Date: July 6, 2010

Description:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called upon the FBI to investigate a fire that broke out late Monday at the Islamic Center of Marietta (Masid Al-Hedaya). CAIR has urged the federal organization to consider the “possible bias motive[s]” which may have led to this “arson attack.”

In a statement regarding this most recent incident, CAIR’s National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper expressed his discontent with “mainstream religious and political leaders” for not actively “push[ing] back” against those who promote “anti-Muslim bigotry.”

Because of the alleged rise of ‘Islamophobia,’ CAIR has urged American Muslim individuals and institutions to review the security procedures outlined by the organization’s “Muslim Community Safety Kit.”
