The CAIR Observatory is dedicated to documenting the activities of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as an unregistered foreign agent<\/a>.\u00a0 CAIR bills itself as “America’s largest Muslim civil rights organization,” but CAIR was founded as an offshoot of the Hamas front group the Islamic Association for Palestine.\u00a0 In 2007, Department of Justice prosecutors named CAIR an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the Hamas\/Holy Land Foundation terrorism finance trial.\u00a0 In 2008 the FBI cut all ties with CAIR<\/a>.\u00a0 That same year CAIR was sued for fraud by Muslim, African-American and Hispanic families.\u00a0 Since CAIR’s founding in 1994 many of its directors have been sued or prosecuted, including four who have been convicted of felonies including terrorism.<\/p>\n

The CAIR Observatory is meant to evoke the name of the Islamophobia Observatory maintained by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC)<\/a>.\u00a0 The Jeddah, Saudi Arabia-based OIC is a patron of CAIR and the two organizations are closely aligned in their ideology and activities.<\/p>\n
